Inscryption on Mac and Linux

macOS and Linux builds of Inscryption arrived together on 23 Jun 2022. Steam news and the store page are the two places I used for that date. There is no separate “Mac edition” with its own price. You buy the PC listing and the Mac or Linux depot comes with it, the way Steam usually works.

What “Mac” means here

I looked for an Apple Silicon callout and did not find a studio post that says “native” or “Rosetta only.” I am leaving that cell empty. If your Mac is Apple silicon, Steam will still install the macOS build; whether that build is native is a fact I will not invent. Intel Macs are in the same bucket: supported as macOS, no extra footnote I can cite.

Linux is the same 23 Jun 2022 depot, not a fan port. Proton is irrelevant if you install the Linux build, and it is the fallback if a distro refuses that build. I am not publishing a distro matrix. The useful test is the Steam system requirements block on the store page, which lists Linux as a platform tab.

Saves, Deck, and what this page is not

Do not reuse the Windows LocalLow path on a Mac. macOS saves usually sit under ~/Library/Application Support, but I do not have two sources for the Inscryption folder name there, so I am not printing a path. Linux paths are likewise blank on this page.

A Steam Deck is a Linux PC in a shell. Deck status is on the PC page, because Valve’s report is about the Deck hardware, not about a Mac. Gamepad feature lines are the same store page as Windows. Nothing on the Mac release notes I saw adds a controller promise the Windows page lacks.
