Inscryption on PC

Windows is the original Inscryption release: 19 Oct 2021, on Steam, with Humble, GOG, and the Epic Games Store also listed on the official site. Valve’s Deck report marks the game Playable. The same report says the glyphs do not match a Deck and text fields do not pop the on-screen keyboard. I am not calling that “full controller support.”

Steam Deck and gamepads

Playable is Valve’s middle tier. It means the game runs, and it also means they printed caveats. The caveat I am willing to repeat is specific: button icons do not match the Deck’s own buttons, and typing does not summon the keyboard for you. If you dock a Deck or use a gamepad on a desktop, expect to learn the keyboard prompts or remap outside the game.

The Steam store page, read on 4 Nov 2026, did not show the usual Xbox or PlayStation controller feature line, and it did not show a Steam Input feature line. Community posts do describe people finishing the game on a pad. I keep “people play it on a pad” and “the store sells it as a controller game” apart. Only the first is fair.

Saves and Kaycee’s Mod on PC

The Steam community guide places SaveFile.gwsave and SaveFile-Backup.gwsave in the Inscryption installation directory, for example C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Inscryption. The exact library prefix can differ. Use Steam → Properties → Installed Files → Browse to find that folder. This location has one accessible community source here; Mac and Linux paths are not inferred.

Kaycee’s Mod became a normal unlock after the finale on 17 Mar 2022. On PC the wiki also describes an early unlock with Shift, K, and M held together. That shortcut is a PC note. I am not claiming the same chord exists on consoles. The mod’s challenge list lives on the Kaycee’s Mod page.
