Inscryption Mechanics

Inscryption uses blood sacrifices, bones and different resource systems across its acts. The cabin side deck contains 10 Squirrels and supplies one at the start of battle. Deathcards combine a selected cost, stats and sigils after a loss. “Too fast, too soon” is tied to early-run progression, rather than how many turns you take.

Deathcards and progress

A deathcard is the game’s memory of a failed run. You pick three contributors and the boss later uses that card against you. It is not a file you can trade, and it is not the Archivist’s hostage file. Progress, as a search, means the three acts, the finale, and then Kaycee’s Mod. There is no level select.

Kaycee’s Mod difficulty comes from selected challenge points. Story-mode bear walls instead depend on how far you progress during the opening runs.

Too fast too soon

On the first Act I run, defeating the Angler’s first phase triggers eight Mighty Leap Grizzlies. Defeating the Trapper before the third run also triggers this replacement. Taking extra turns in a boss phase does not change the run counter. In Kaycee’s Mod the Grizzly Bosses challenge applies a similar bear wall to the first three bosses.

FAQ

What is the max hand size?

A cap exists. I am not printing a number. Two sources did not give me one I trust.

How many squirrels?

10 in the side deck, 1 dealt at the start of a battle.
